EN-Apeldoornsche Bosch

This is an area with a special history. From the early 1900s, a Jewish psychiatric institution was located here: ‘Het Apeldoornsche Bosch.’ In January 1943, all 1,200 patients and some of the staff were deported by the Nazis to Auschwitz, where they were murdered.

After the war, the complex was acquired by a Reformed association and was named ‘Groot Schuylenburg.’ It is now part of ’s Heeren Loo, an institution for people with intellectual disabilities.
